Keeper Magazine

Issue 14 - October 2004

Issue Fourteen sees the return of few big names like Dimmu Borgir and Lamb of God and the appearance of few underground favorites like Black Holiday, Krieg and Caliban. The text features begin to be shorter but the total page count remains since there’s many more full page photos and illustrations to make up for it. I’m particularly fond of the black metal homonid illustration and the Lamb of God graphic design. Issue 14 came out amidst a presidential election in the USA and we have one ad from Punk Voter delineating the candidates positions and another ad from American Streak Records for a conservative “punk” compilation called Crush Kerry. (It even features a now un-Google-able band called “Epstien”!) Strange times that only got stranger… A fun fact about this issue is that not only did I layout and design the thing but I also did a few random advertisements inside like for Lucky Strike Lanes and Party Poker… like I said, weird times.  Strangely enough, the only live show review in this issue is covering Ozzfest 2004 — written, of course, by the amazing Jeff Easton, who along with Kerri Lynn DeHart, is essentially keeping the magazine alive with their contributions!
